The Doberman Breed
The Doberman breed is a breed of very energetic dogs. This actually makes them great pets because they have a natural ability to want to "work". So, when given the time and training to "work", they become very well trained, obedient and fearless dogs. When training a Doberman make sure you are firm and consistent but NOT mean and harsh. They will learn to be mean if you hit or strike them to teach them. However, they have a natural tendency to want to be the dominant or alpha dog. So, as their owner and trainer you need to be firm with them and spend plenty of time the first year or so training them and helping them turn into the dog you want them to become. Doberman's are generally protective of their "family" or owner. So, make sure that as a general rule your Doberman meets and greets at least 100 people and dogs within the first year of it's life. This helps a Doberman treat others that come to your home nicely because the Doberman will have had a lot of good positive experiences with people and other dogs.
